This cult British rock band, which has recorded 30 albums so far, and sold them over 50 million copies, finally comes to Skopje as part of the "50 years of Jethro Tull" tour.

Jethro Tull are a British rock band formed in Blackpool, Lancashire, in 1967. Initially playing blues rock, the band later developed its sound to incorporate elements of hard and folk rock to forge a progressive rock signature. The band is led by vocalist/flautist/guitarist Ian Anderson, and has featured a revolving door of lineups through the years including significant members such as guitarists Mick Abrahams and Martin Barre, keyboardist John Evan, drummers Clive BunkerBarriemore Barlow, and Doane Perry, and bassists Glenn CornickJeffrey HammondJohn Glascock, and Dave Pegg.

The group first achieved commercial success in 1969, with the folk-tinged blues album Stand Up, which reached No. 1 in the UK, and they toured regularly in the UK and the US. Their musical style shifted in the direction of progressive rock with the albums Aqualung (1971), Thick as a Brick (1972) and A Passion Play (1973), and shifted again to hard rock mixed with folk rock with Songs from the Wood (1977) and Heavy Horses (1978). Jethro Tull have sold an estimated 60 million albums worldwide, with 11 gold and five platinum albums among them. They have been described by Rolling Stone as "one of the most commercially successful and eccentric progressive rock bands".

Alexander Hawkins is widely recognized as one of the UK’s most innovative and imaginative pianists and composers. He is self-taught with a great love and deep knowledge of the jazz tradition which he brings, along with classical references, to his compositions and improvisations. His own highly distinctive soundworld is forged through the search to reconcile both his love of free improvisation and profound fascination with composition and structure. Along with his solo performances, he works in a vast array of creative contexts including leading and composing for his Quartet and Ensemble, in duo with the likes of Evan Parker, John Surman, Han Bennink and Sofia Jernberg and in projects with contemporary leaders - Joe McPhee, Anthony Braxton, Marshall Allen, Wadada Leo Smith, Hamid Drake, Rob Mazurek, Matana Roberts, Shabaka Hutchings, Louis Moholo and Ethio-jazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke, among many others. Concert appearances have taken him to major club, concert and festival stages worldwide.

On October 10 Opening of Station 26 with Claptone!

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded darkness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.

Tuesday, October 9, 21 o'clock. Planetarium, MCC.

An Eagle in your Mind are Sophia and Raoul, a nomad duo for whom music is a journey, a constant search for new sonic horizons. In the intimacy of the Skopje planetarium they will bring their hypnotic sound, an organic clutch of folk, psychedelia, sacral music and abstract hip-hop. Unpredictability turned into precious virtue. Paradoxical alchemy of multiple heterogeneous elements supported by a colorful instrumentation that includes Indian harmonium, Brazilian percussion, guubri (acoustic bass originating in West Africa), banjo, synthesizer, rhythm machine, etc.
