1000 Wines from 100 Wine Cellars Arrive in Sofia

The eighth edition of the Balkan International Wine Festival will offer three days, full of emotions, at the beginning of June, when around 1000 wines from 100 wine cellars from the Balkans will be tasted by citizens and worldwide guests of Sofia. The luxurious tents of the event will be placed at the open area in front of the National Palace of Culture between 7 and 9 June 2019.

While the preparations for the festival run with full speed, registration for the competition which will select the best wines from the whole Balkan region, is ongoing. It will take place on 5-7 June and the awards will be given by international judging panel, which includes four Masters of Wine (MW) – the most prestigious title for a wine expert. The jury’s chairman is the first MW on the Balkans – Konstantinos Lazarakis.

All refined tastes will be provoked by unseen variety of wines. Among the participants in the exhibition are the best 100 wine producers from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, North Мacedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Georgia. Their wines can be tasted by all visitors, who has bought a ticket. And for those who don’t want to miss the chance to try again the delightful wine at home or who want to give unique present to a close person, wines will be offered at preferential prices. The prestigious format Sofia Restaurant Week will take care the taste of delicacy wines to be combined with wonderful food. Guests will have the chance to visit different restaurants, offering thematic cuisine – Greek, Turkish, Serbian, Thai, Bulgarian, Italian, French, etc. Some great musicians will add to the lovely atmosphere. Some of them are Vivo Montana, Merudia, Angel Zaberski. Of course, the organisation committee has prepared lots of surprises, which will be revealed during the long festive weekend.
