Festival of European Literature “BookStar”

“BookStar / Literary Stars” will be held from October 12 to 15 at the Youth Cultural Center, under the slogan “Genresis”. The festival will ask the questions: Is Covid-19 the most tangible apocalyptic form of civilization so far and a vortex in which we will disappear, piece by piece? Or are we facing the chapter of the rebirth of mankind, the second genesis? And how will literature find its place in these frightening moments, will it have to find an autochthonous discourse, or has its destiny already been written?
The festival opens on October 12 with the guest from Austria, Katarina Winkler, and the promotion of her novel “Fashion Jewelry”.

“Immediately after that is the promotion of the only domestic author, Vlada Uroshevic,, and his latest work ‘Viola arsenica; notes on poetry ‘, which we are organizing in cooperation with the publishing house’ Goten ‘. The next day we have three more important authors: Ognen Spahic from Montenegro with the work ‘Under the Two Suns’, Baslor Hoxha from Kosovo with the work ‘The Witness’ and the guest from Iceland, Sjon, a very important prose writer and poet, from whom we have published three books “, Points out Dukoska.

The third night of the festival, on the other hand, is reserved for authors from Croatia, Marina Vujcic with the novel “Fifty Cigarettes for Elena” and Mihaela Gaspar with the novel “The Clockworker”. “We close the festival with two writers who are at the top of our reading lists: Sofia Lundberj comes to us from Sweden and we will promote her warm love-historical novels, and immediately afterwards we continue with Miodrag Majic from Serbia and his great thrillers.”

In addition to the promotions of the authors, which are events of the main program, there will be a round table on “Translation / Communication / Understanding”, an event in honour of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Stanislav Lem
