We are very proud of witnessing this historical moment for our small country. The first Macedonian feature documentary at the Oscars:
Honeyland is nominated by The Academy for BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE and BEST INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM.
Honeyland is a documentary about the life and labors of Hatidze Muratova, one of the last wild beekeepers in Bekirlija, a remote village in Macedonia, her relationship with her 85-year-old bed-ridden mother and her new, nomadic neighbor. Shot over three years and condensed from more than 400 hours of footage, Honeyland tells a surreal but poignant story of human struggle, persistence, relationship with one another and with Mother nature.
